Individual Insurance Plans
Individual policies are generally for people who are responsible for their own health insurance. Such as the self employed or people who do not have access to company benefits. Underwriting is generally required on these policies.

Family Insurance Plans
Family plans work well for families with 4 or more people and for a family planning on having children. Family plans in general offer maternity benefits on the policy. You will want to check with North Atlanta Insurance Group to make sure the insurance company you are looking at offers maternity coverage.
Companies offering maternity benefits:
-Blue Cross Blue Shield family plans only
-Kaiser Permanente offers maternity benefits on family
and individual plans.
-Golden Rule has a maternity benefit as an optional rider.
Small Group Plans
If you have a company of at least 2 employees you can qualify for a small group plan. If you are an employer of a small group, it is important to remember you will need at least 75% of your eligible employees participating in the plan. The minimum requirement for the employer’s contribution is 50% of the employee cost of the premium.

Short Term Policy
A Short term policy is generally for people who need health coverage for 30 to 90 days. They are health plans that provide coverage for emergency type situations.
HSA or Health Savings Accounts
High Deductible Health Plans or HDHP are the type of plan needed to qualify for the HSA. This type of health coverage is for the individual or small business. You will want to keep in mind that the HDHP has a deductible that would be met before the health insurance company would pay for coverage. These plans do not offer co pays for your everyday needs. Once you have a HDHP in place, then you can set up a HSA or health savings account. This type of savings account will allow you to put money into an account on a pre-tax basis. The idea is to use the money in the savings account to help pay for qualified health expenses that your health insurance plan does not cover. These savings accounts can earn interest and the money can roll over from year to year. It is similar to a Roth IRA, but for medical expenses.
